Playgrounds

Here are a couple photos I took on 110 film almost 25 years ago in upstate New York.

I love anthropomorphic playground equipment.

They make me nostalgic for the old McDonald’s restaurants that had the cheeseburger chairs with the little eyeballs.

Trip to Paris

Here are some photo scans I recently found from my trip to France back in the summer of 2000. Most of these were taken on 110 Film.

The Paris Metro photo below was probably taken on my regular 35mm film camera.

Amusement park rides at a summer carnival in the Tuileries Garden – these are on 110 Film.

Other Paris area landmarks I visited included the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Louvre, Picasso Museum, Musée d’Orsay, and the Palace of Versailles. I also did this freehand drawing of the Notre-Dame Cathedral. I regret not making more of an effort to see the interior, but it was so crowded and confusing that I ended up briefly popping my head in before giving up.

I also took a train into the countryside for a couple days and visited Angers. I saw the Cointreau Factory, and also the Apocalypse Tapestry at Château d’Angers, which was amazing. Hopefully one of these days I’ll have time to find and scan more photos from this trip.

Christmas Eve in Charleston

Here is my photo diary of Christmas Eve 2022 in Charleston, SC. There was a ridiculous cold snap over the weekend with temperatures dropping down to 18 degrees. But that didn’t stop us from exploring the historic district, eating at a fancy restaurant, and seeing the Atlantic Ocean. I wouldn’t mind visiting again!

Christmas Eve in Pensacola

To celebrate our first Christmas Eve in the Florida Panhandle in 2021, we took a day trip to Pensacola. I loved this huge inflatable Grinch.

The Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel was built in 1886, but traces its roots to the 16th century exploration of Northwest Florida. Love that blue ceiling!

Beautiful sunset glow as seen from the Pensacola Bay Bridge as we headed home.
