Nature Walk

It’s usually too hot in July to go for long walks in the Florida Panhandle, but it has rained almost every day so far this summer which has kept things a bit cooler. I took my Kodak PIXPRO FZ55 along with me for this walk through Watercolor and Seaside hoping it would capture some nice shots, and it did not disappoint!

I think the Samsung digital camera I used to have might have been a bit better, but this Kodak is really growing on me. I have not applied any filters to these, they are straight from the camera.

The Old Ferris Wheel

Here are some photos I took of the old Ferris wheel at Chicago’s Navy Pier before it was replaced by the Centennial Wheel in 2016.

The old Ferris wheel was built in 1995, and had 40 gondolas that were open to the air.

We went back again after dinner to see the Chicago skyline at night.

July 4th in Seaside

We love Seaside and visit often, but this was our first time celebrating Independence Day there.

Shortly before sunset we made our way to the beach, and set up our chairs for the fireworks.

The moon was almost full which made the view more exciting.

Hope everybody had a great long weekend!

Cape San Blas – Bay Side

We accidentally stumbled upon Cape San Blas back in 2023 when we took a road trip to St. George Island on my birthday. After an underwhelming couple of hours at the state park, we decided on a whim to swing by CSB on the way back, and have been hooked ever since.

Last year we visited twice, which made this our fourth trip to the cape. The sargassum was really bad on the gulf side this year, but we weren’t affected because we spent most of our time kayaking on Saint Joseph Bay.

It was so peaceful just floating out there staring into the horizon, and observing the wildlife like this beautiful white heron.

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw all these pelicans roosting on a boat lift. Such fascinating creatures!

We also enjoyed biking along the Loggerhead Run Bike Path.

As night began to approach, we heeded the painful lessons learned from previous trips, and took refuge in our room to avoid getting attacked by biting insects.

But once it was pitch dark we reemerged to do some stargazing at the end of the dock.

Already plotting and planning our next trip!

Here are some of my recently rediscovered photos of the AIC from 10 years ago that I posted on Twitter using the now defunct ‘Twitpic’ platform. Enjoy!
